In 1920 David Burliuk traveled to Japan from Russia, where he spent two years before finally emigrating to America. Born in the Ukraine, David Burliuk was known as the Father of Russian futurism but after the revolution he and his family found it necessary to leave Russia. Whilst in Japan he cooperated with the emerging Japanese futurist movement on whom he had an enormous influence.
